Welcome to my website. My web address indicates that this site is primarily about my work as an author. My publishing successes are not yet great, but I have taken the first tentative steps. Getting published in today’s market is not easy, as the market is quite swamped and new writers are coming along all the time, but as successful authors will testify, it is all about perseverance – not giving up when those ‘Standard Reply Letters’ come rolling in, as indeed they do. Maybe that elusive best seller will roll off my laptop one day and I want it to be recognised by a publisher when it does.
My infant and primary education was at Adbaston County Primary School (Staffordshire), a school run by husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Dalton. It was a typical rural school, drawing pupils from quite a large area. I failed my eleven-plus, so was unable to progress to Grammar School in Newport. Hence…
My secondary education was at Eccleshall Secondary Modern School in Staffordshire. I left in 1957, aged 15 years. I’d always thought I’d go into farming, because being a country boy, I’d always helped out on a local farm during school holidays. However my older brother had other ideas and he persuaded me (or is that coerced?)
